IFT Divisions hold graduate student research poster and oral competitions. Poster competitions are closed and not open to attendees.

The Oral competitions are open to any IFT18 attendee wishing to listen to research findings.

IFTSA College Bowl Competition - Rounds 7-12

When: Tuesday, 07/17/2018 through Tuesday, 07/17/2018, 12:30 PM - 03:00 PM

Where: McCormick Place - S100 Ballroom

Featuring eight regional team finalists, the College Bowl Competition will take place in multiple rounds of double elimination until a winner is crowned. Everyone is welcome to attend rounds 7-12. The final two-to-three rounds will be held during the IFTSA Closing Ceremony on Tuesday evening.
The 28th Annual IFTSA & MARS Product Development Competition - Oral Presentations

When: Monday, 07/16/2018 through Monday, 07/16/2018, 10:30 AM - 01:30 PM

Where: McCormick Place - S504ABCD

In this long-standing annual competition, each participating school team develops a new food idea and carries the concept through production and marketing, similar to a commercial product development team. Winners will be announced during the IFTSA Closing Ceremony.

IFTSA College Bowl Competition - Preliminary Rounds (CLOSED)

When: Tuesday, 07/17/2018 through Tuesday, 07/17/2018, 09:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Where: McCormick Place - S505A

CLOSED SESSION. Featuring eight regional team finalists, the College Bowl Competition will take place in multiple rounds of double elimination until a winner is crowned. Rounds 1-6 are closed to the public, but everyone is welcome to attend rounds 7-12 in S100 Ballroom at 12:30pm. The final two-to-three rounds will be held during the IFTSA Closing Ceremony on Tuesday evening
IFTSA Closing Ceremony

When: Tuesday, 07/17/2018 through Tuesday, 07/17/2018, 07:00 PM - 09:00 PM

Where: McCormick Place - S100 Ballroom

The IFTSA Closing Ceremony will take place immediately following the Student Celebration. Student competition winners will be announced, the championship rounds of the College Bowl Competition will take place, and IFTSA leadership will be introduced.

Six finalists will present their original research projects orally, vying for first, second, and third place recognition in Chicago. Winners will be announced during the IFTSA Closing Ceremony.
Smart Snacks for Kids Product Development Competition - Oral Presentations

Come enjoy IFTSA's newest competition! The IFTSA Smart Snacks for Kids Competition challenges students to develop a fun and nutritious food or beverage product targeted at kids and/or teens. Products must abide by the USDA “Guide to Smart Snacks in Schools” recommendations . Teams are empowered to use their imagination in order to engage their chosen audience in the science and overall appeal behind a novel product of their creation. A crucial component of a winning product is the team’s ability to relay the food or beverage’s ”smart” qualities to both a technical AND a general audience. Now, leverage your ‘smarts’, channel your inner child, and develop the ULTIMATE kid-friendly product imaginable!
